Enrique M. Illueca is renowned for his contributions and expertise in Panama’s banking regulations and for his activities in the field of international commercial arbitration. He is the managing partner of Bufete Illueca and Professor of International Law at Universidad Santa María La Antigua. He previously taught at Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencias y Tecnología (ULACIT) and at Universidad de Panamá.
Mr. Illueca was associate editor of the journal “Columbia Business Law Review” and is the author of several books and journal articles on banking law, commercial arbitration, law of the sea, and international law. He sits in the Board of Directors of Grupo Lefevre (Panama) and Banco Popular Dominicano (Dominican Republic). Previously, he was part of the board of the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (APEDE) and the Rotary Club of Panama. Mr. Illueca served as member, commissioner and chief legal officer of Panama’s National Banking Commission.
