Gina Picardi focuses her legal practice in immigration, corporate and labor Law. Her services are focused on the design and execution of corporate plans aimed at facilitating the establishment of national and multinational companies in Panama. Her knowledge on Panama’s immigration law has allowed her to develop systems and frameworks to verify compliance of banks, multinational companies and airlines with the said regulations.
In 2008, Ms. Picardi served as President of the Migration Law Commission of Panama’s National Bar Association and actively participated in the drafting of Decree Law No. 3 of 2008, which creates the National Migration Service. She is the author of the book ‘Panamanian Legislation on Migration’, which to date has six volumes, published in three different decades (1983, 1989, 1993, 2001, 2004, 2008). Currently, she is in the process of publishing another book on migration law theory.
Ms. Picardi’s representative clients include Ericsson, HSBC, Bank of Paris, STT, Banistmo, and Unión Eólica de Panamá. In addition, she served as advisor to the Chamber of Commerce and the Maritime Chamber of Panama. She dictates seminars and conferences on immigration law for legal professionals, public servants, corporations and banks. She was adjunct faculty and lectured on migration law at the at Universidad Santa María La Antigua and Universidad Panama.
